Greenbanded Goby
Description: A forest green goby with beige fins and head. The green body is covered with rungs of discrete lime colored vertical bars that begin posterior to the pectoral fins and end at the caudal peduncle. Meanwhile, a bright red bar runs from the snout, through each eye, and ends near the dorsal origin of the pectoral fins. In addition, a bright orange circle lines each pupil.

Natural Ecology: These gobies live among the spines of urchins for protection against predators.

Indigenous To: Bahamas to Venezuela, westward to Panama.

Behavior: These gobies are conspicuously present near their favorite crevice. These gobies are relatively immune from predators when among the spines of a host urchin and they exhibit the same conspicuous presence when perched near their rock retreat.

Compatability: Ideal scavenger in reef aquariums.

Food: Proaquatix specimens have been weaned to take aquarium pellets and flakes. Freshly frozen invertebrates such as ocean plankton, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped squid will be readily accepted.
