Description:
Males are blue-colored with a bright orange head, while females are solid blue.
Natural Ecology:
Pseudochromis steenei is a carnivore of worms and other small invertebrates.
Indigenous To:
Range boundaries are roughly Indonesia, Bali, and Flores.
Behavior:
This species is aggressive towards conspecifics, other fishes, divers, and aquarists within their territory.
Compatability: Usually ignores corals and most invertebrates. They may attack tiny shrimps, but are useful to curb the proliferation of bristleworms.
Food: Proaquatix specimens have been weaned to take aquarium pellets and flakes. Freshly frozen invertebrates such as ocean plankton, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped squid will be readily accepted.
