Sebae Anemonefish
Description: Some variations is seen in Amphiprion sebae, probably due to some degree of reproductive isolation of certain populations throughout its wide geographical distribution. Some individuals have more yello color around their mouth, ventral body, and caudal fin. This species has a general brown body color and two white stripes, with the posterior stripe running through the dorsal fin to the edge, and continuing backwards along the dorsal fin edge that is posterior to the stripes intrusion.

Natural Ecology: This species naturally lives among the tentacles of carpet anemones (Stichodactyla haddoni). This natural behavior protects wild clownfishes from predators. Without anemones hosts, wild Amphiprion sebae are shy and easily frightened. Proaquatix clownfishes do not require anemone hosts, but will accept them if present.

Indigenous To: Range extends from southern Arabian Peninsula eastward to Java, southward to Maldives, and northward to Pakistan, India, and the Andaman Islands.

Behavior: Like all clownfishes, Amphiprion sebae is a sequential hermaphrodite. The largest individual present will exert dominance and become reproductively female. The next largest fish will become reproductively male. Remaining smaller individuals may not be tolerated.

Compatability: Usually ignores reef invertebrates and corals. Clownfishes sometimes adopt various corals and algae as substitutes for host anemones.

Food: Proaquatix specimens have been weaned to take aquarium pellets and flakes. Freshly frozen invertebrates such as ocean plankton, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped squid will be readily accepted.
