Yellow Assessor
Description: The Yellow Assessor is a bright yellow basslet with very small bright green, red, and sometimes even blue markings. They are often seen swimming upside down and on their side.
Natural Ecology:
Unlike the Blue Assessor, the Yellow Assessor is not a mouthbrooder.
Indigenous To:
Western and Central Pacific... often found on the Great Barrier Reef.
Behavior:
Often seen near an area where a quick retreat into the rocks is possible. Males exhibit territory defense toward other males of the same species. When eggs are present, the male may chase off other species if they venture near the eggs, but this behavior is rarely persistent once the intruder retreats.
Compatibility: Assessors make wonderful additions to almost any reef tank due to peaceful temperament. Usually ignores corals and invertebrates.
Food: Proaquatix specimens have been weaned to take aquarium pellets and flakes. Freshly frozen invertebrates such as ocean plankton, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and chopped squid will be readily accepted.
